Ascend Events came about after a conversation with my Dad. He had been involved in organising a number of Long Distance Walking Association challenges for some time but they had dropped several exceptional events from their calendar and had no plans to bring them back. We were both disappointed that people wouldn’t have the opportunity to take part in races on these routes any more.
We felt that between us we had both the experience in organising events and the passion for the Lake District and endurance sports so make it a success… and Ascend was born.
It was important for me that they will be challenging races, that will be a tough test for most people but also provide the support & assistance to make them accessible, achievable and enjoyable for everyone, from elite athletes to weekend fell walkers. We aim to do this by taking the best of what we’ve learnt from trail races, ultra runs and the LDWA.
All our events will be great value for money, the decision to do this wasn’t based on making it into a profitable business but more about being able to share some brilliant trails in truly stunning locations with people who may not have done these types of events before. We will be provided a huge variety of food (something that many walkss are famed for) , there will always be a hot meal at the end for all entrants and we will be giving all finishers a bespoke medal.
They will be relaxed and easy going events, the focus is on them being fun & friendly… after all they are being organised by a family. They will be timed, but they’re as much about enjoying being in some of the most beautiful locations in England as finishing fast.
So please check out our event listings, our first race will be Four Passes on 15th October and we’re confident that everyone that completes the route will love it. I did.
